Various forestry projects are assisted in India by the overseas Official Development Assistance (ODA) Loans, Haryana’s INRMPRP is one of them. The project aims to rehabilitate forests and wastelands of Haryana in an ecologically sustainable manner and to improve the quality of life of the village communities residing in adjoining areas. Plantation and poverty reduction activities are spread over 800 villages in 17 districts of Haryana, excluding Gurgaon and Faridabad, where the “Children Forest Programme” (CFP) is being implemented. The evaluation study is done by All State which is based on the results of a survey of 40 VFCs of 40 randomly selected villages. All State analyzed the status of VFCs and SHGs, identified core weaknesses and the reasons thereof. Further, suggested definite but realistic remedial measures. Moreover, suggested ways and means to strengthen the functioning of VFCs and SHGs to promote effectiveness, self-reliance and sustainability.
